I have a 2001 Tacoma and I want to get the Toyota VIP RS 3200 Security System for it. Acoording to Toyotaguys.com I cant do that beacause I have a 2001, I figure the harnesses are probably different. According to the website 98-2001 uses the RS 3000 not the RS 3200 which is over $100 cheaper than the RS 3000.

So I was wondering if anyone here has installed an RS 3200 on a 98-2001 Tacoma(not sure about 4Runners) and what did you have to do to make it work. I realize you can make anything work, I just dont know how complicated it is and I dont really want to pay over $100 more for virtually the same system with an easily replaceable different wire harness.

Why don't you look at an aftermarket alarm system like Alpine or Viper? That is the route I'm going when I get around to buying one. Believe me, I've had both kinds before (stock and aftermarket) and you get ten times the features on an aftermarket for the same amount of money as a stock system costs. Later.
