So, I don't know what transmission or transfer case I have. All I know is that it is a manual 5 speed 4wd stick. The manual says to put it in 2H I but don't tow very dark like that. Putting it in neutral on both sticks will work ?

If the transfer case doesn't have a neutral position then 2H is ok.

By placing both sticks in neutral, the transmission and transfer case are now disengaged from the propeller shafts. So both propeller shafts are free to rotate with their respective differentials without forcing the transmission/transfer case to rotate.
