Torsion bars

Muahahahahaha... well.. working on the truck is moving along.. Spent 400 on the thing today to get my steering reworked and needed a new center drag tie, so that was a lot of fun. mmmhmmm.. Well.. now I am looking for some lowering blocks to lower the truck.. I can hopefully find those locally but I need info on the torsion bars. Exactly what do i have to do to lower the front end with the bars? I was looking at some mitsubisihi stuff which seemed to look a lot like my torsion bars with some differences. Anyone have a good site or a place with some good info on torsion bars on yota trucks? A writeup with a truck like mine (87) would be excellent. Thanks guys and gals.

im guessing you have a 4x2?

you just turn the torsin bars... follow them to the back where they mount and there will be a large threaded rod that sticks out on both sides upwards... well, the other side of that bar towards the ground there is a 22mm or 7/8" sized bolt head..... you just crank thesecounter clockwise and your truck will lower..... thats how my truck was lowered when i got it.... torsion bar crank and 3" blocks.....

De-cranking the torsion bars will also make the front suspension softer, to counter act this, you might want to look into bigger T-bars from sway-away to make the suspension feel more like stock when lowered.

the suspension may not be softer.. mine was completely slammed, and the bumpstops permanently rested on the arms... it rode like crap... didnt have body roll... but i felt like i was riding a skateboard

This is the best write-up I've seen for 4WD t-bar adjustments: http://www.off-road.com/toyota/tech/torsion/index.htm
