TORNADO... real or gimmick?

hey, i was wondering, does anyone kno what the TORNADO is? its that metal ring u place in ur air filter tube or ur carb filter..... it's supposed to give u more hp and better gas mileage. it works by creating a tornado effect, making the air flow in a circular motion, thru ur air intake, and when it enters ur engine, it mixes the gas and O2 better, therefore giving you better performance. is this tru?

Yeah it is a gimmick, and a waste of money, If you had a high performance motor that sucked ina lot of air it might help, but that much. It is a knock off of a Throttle Body Spacer

Yup, gimmick. You'd probably gain 0.5 hp & it would sound more rough giving the illusion of usefulness.

Snake Oil in in it's purest form.

Some of the TTORA guys actually dyno'd that thing. Some runs showed a one or two HP increase, others a one or two HP decrease. All in all, it was a wash.

The consensus seemed to be that it *might* actually do something on a carburated vehicle, but it does nothing for fuel injection but allow you to sit more comfortably because you wallet is a bit thinner
