Tires for 2000 4Runner
#1
I just purchased a 2000 SR5 4Runner with 31K miles. I am going to need tires pretty soon and was looking for some suggestions. Most of my driving will be highway, but there will be some beach and mud. Looking for a good tire for wet roads and that is quiet.
It has Goodyear Wrangler RT on it now, I don't know how the previous owner took care of the tires that are on there, but I don't think they were rotated regularly.
Thanks for any help Bob

Hi Bob
Welcome to the forum! There are ton of very knowledgable and friendly people here.
As for the tires, the favorite of a lot of folks is the BFG All Terrains. I Bridgestone Dueller A/Ts and like them alot. They are resonably quiet, good on wet roads, snow covered roads, sand and are acceptable in not too deep mud. Hope this helps.
Cheers!

Welcome!!!
Wet roads, highway...I'd recommend the Dueler AT's over the BFG AT's for you then. You may want to think about Jason B.'s Dueler HL's (I believe that's what they are) too.
Here are some good tire-related threads for ya:

Bob K:
From one Bob K to another, I can give you feedback on two brands, the stock Wranglers to the Michelin LTXs. I had the stock Wranglers on my 99 and transferred them to my 98. The 98 when I bought it had the LTXs (uh...repeating myself...).
When I drove the 98 home and for a few days b/f I decided to switch out the rims/tires, the 98 w/ the LTXs drove much smoother and gripped much better (on-road conditions). Also, the ride was significantly dampened.
When I switched the LTXs to the 99, it had the same effect. And when I put the stock 99 Wranglers on the 98, the ride was rougher. Thus, it was a pretty fair, apples to apples comparison.
I beleive the LTXs are pretty affordable, relatively speaking.
