Question tires on 17's

I bought a set of 2005 Tundra 17's with 265/70 17s on them yesterday for my 2001 4runner (stock height, no plans to lift, no running boards)

Can I go any bigger on tire size?

thx in advance, tom

that size is just a touch smaller (by a few hundredths of an inch) than 265/75/16. Some people even get a few rubs with that size. I would say that without a lift, the size you have is about the biggest you can run on your truck.

I mean things like offset (backspacing) play into the pic a bit, but at the end of the day, if offsets are similar, they don't affect too much.

Some manufacturers make a 275/70/17 (rare size)... that you may be able to fit as it is just a bit wider and about .5" taller overall (around 32.1"). That would be your absolute max without serious cutting (I would say).
