Tire Rubbing Question

They say the largest tire you can fit under a stock 2nd generation 4Runner is 32X11.50 with "little or no rubbing". I have stock 31X10.50 tires, does the "rubbing" come from going to 32? or from going to 11.50? or both???

I think to the 32"... I have 32's now, and they do rub a bit.

Both sort of. An 11.5 wide 32 will rub more than a 10.5x32. The front tires move in a arc as you steer and the rubbing occurs between the outside of the front tire and the rear of the front fender. The outside of a wider tire travels through a longer and wider arc that reaches that point on the fender sooner.

I run 32x11.5 tires on stock 15x7 JJ wheels with a 1.5 inch body lift and don't rub at all.
