Just replaced my 22RE and dont want it to die like the other one so I am doing my timing chain. I like one of the kits on ebay cause its complete and cheap.

My question is is the timing chain cover worth it for an extra $33?

$33 ain't bad i just did my chain on my '84, the previous owner drove it for awhile with the driver side guide in the oil pan!, there were some grooves in the timing cover, but not deep enough to do any harm, so i just did the timing kit, new chain, gears, tensioner, and guides, been good so far

 

Yea I was cheap and didnt get it. So hopefully there is no problems with it. Thanks
