You can raise your truck 1" or 1.5" (I have aftermarket Sway-a-way 25mm torsion bars) by cranking the torsion bars. Mine have been cranked for about 5 years. The rig will ride stiffer, and will lose flex on the trail, making it ride really rough. I recently installed the SDORI 1.5" balljoint spacers from www.sdori.com and was able to gain the lift and restore the ride quality back to stock (plush!). I am running both 1.5" rear add-a-leaves and 1.5" lift shackles out back and the truck is fairly level right now, but I may crank them a little bit to stiffen the ride slightly.

Mine are also cranked up about an inch. Mine are cranked to compensate for the extra weight of my winch and bumper. I still have a nice smooth ride but only because of the extra 140 lbs or so up front. The only thing you need to worry about as far as damage goes is the added angle on your cv's when you lift the front end. As long as you stay under 1.5" of front lift, you should be alright.

Cranking torsion bars sucks.
Don't waste your time. The reason it appears you have more room for bigger tires is because you are losing compression travel.
I have BJ spacers, 25mm torsion bars and the adjustors are completely relaxed yet I run 33's any yabe 35's with only a 1" bodylift.
