i purchased a 1992 toyota extended cab 4x4 with the 3.0 3vze engine with a blown head gasket. i replaced both sides and have the truck all back together and i am driving it but im hearing some sort of annoying ticking sound coming from around the airbox cleaner area. no performance problems but just annoying sound. what could that be and can anything be done for it

maybe loose valves................an adjustment would probably help but from my experiences of owning both the 3vze and 22re they are just noisy engines in general.

unless its really loud and you notice blue smoke or a power loss id say dont worry about it.
