Three people in a single cab
My girl lives in Iowa, I'm in Southern California currently. She's going to be flying down and we are gonna drive up together, she's having a hard time leaving her son with her parents for a week while shes down here (he just turned 1) . I have a single cab 95.5 Tacoma with a bench seat, I'm wondering if a carseat, me and her would even fit in it to drive back. I'm pretty sure it would be too cramped for that long of a drive if it would even fit, I'd try it myself but I don't have a car seat on hand to test fit it. Anyone wanna trade for an extended cab/22re 4runner?

I wasn't planning on it, I figured it would be best for him to stay with his grandparents. But she doesn't wanna be away from him, It'll more than likely work out like that. I was just wondering if we could all snuggle in my yota, AKA "Limpy".

You want to put your girl friend with a one year old child into your truck and drive to Iowa??
In the Winter?
Why??
Have you ever taken a trip with a girl friend and small child that far ??
Myself the seating arrangements is the simple part.
In my case it started a feud making a Full Blown fire fight look peaceful and calm
Best of luck!!

Rent a car or hope none of you are weight challenged. It is gonna suck.
Measure your width, go to store measure car seat, measure girlfriend measure your bench seat subtract width of arm rest= gonna suck especially if you own a stick

Haha, I'm moving up there and she wants to come out and drive up with me. I've had three large adults in the truck before and it wasn't comfortable, it's an automatic unfortunately. I got a good deal on it so I can't complain. I planned on building a rock crawler ( still do ) that's why I bought the single cab in the first place for the smaller wheelbase. I'll just convince her to leave little man with the grandparents for the week. Unless anyone wants to trade for a ext cab haha, my custom painted tailgate should make up the cost difference.

How long is the drive? I've had three 1 year olds in close succession. Most of our travel drama was due to the fact they could not touch each other. Ever. Hence the minivan for a while. The nicest kid will turn into a brat when they travel.
If you are in a relationship with someone with a little kid I hope you have a lot of patience. He will travel best when he is sleeping. Maybe try to leave in the middle of the night. During the day it would be good if you can get a portable DVD player and let him watch cartoons. You will need to stop every couple of hours to stretch. I used to go on trips and map out McDonalds that had playlands ahead of time.
If it's only for a few days I hope she can be persuaded to leave the child with her parents. Flying for little kids is torture. Usually their ears hurt from the changes in altitude. They get ear infections easily and that will be no picnic. Being confined in a car seat in a single cab pickup is also not going to be fun for him. I wonder if you two will be speaking at the end of the trip. Good luck.

Personally I wouldn't do it. I have had two regular cabs, one with a bench and one with buckets. I wouldn't do it even if it was a manikin and an empty car seat! I would ditch the truck and buy a car if plans of rock crawling in Iowa are in your head. There aren't any rocks out here and basically only one place to wheel.
