for those of you who put newer seats in your first gen

i got a set of 98 tacoma seats im tryin to put in my 85 4runner and it isnt as easy as just swappin the rails like the guy at tap said. Has anyone done this or does anyone have good insight?

not sure about buckets seat but i put a bench seat from a tacoma in my truck. just have to saw the pins off the tacoma seat and front bolts right up to factory holes back has to be drilled and new bolts installed. You dont even have to change the rails. just my.02

I put a set of 94' 4Runner seats in my 88'. In my case, the seats were permanently attached to the rails, just like in the 1st gen 4runners. The newer seat rails are just a little bit wider than the 88'. I just bolted in the inside rails first, then had a friend pull on the outer rail while I bolted in the outside rail.
It worked perfectly, and the seat moves just as it should.

well my dads thing is they are narrower than the 4runner seats ... so hes thinking of putting spacers on so they will fit right but we will see ... ill post some pics for sure if we get it working.
