Question Is there a non SR5?

Hay all,
Is there a 4Runner model that is not a SR5? If there is, what's the difference between an SR5 and non SR5? Every 4Runner I've seen has the SR5 label on it. Anybody know what SR5 means?

I don't remember is the Limited edition models have SR5 badge on them or not, but if not, I'm not talking about them.

Well, have fun.

yes

up until (and including) the 2000 model, 4Runners were offered as a base model. They came with power-nothing, a 4-cylinder engine, and 2WD. I think the starting price was $22k. I'm pretty sure SR5 was the most common trim. In 2001, they did away with the base model, leaving only SR5 and Limited trims to choose from. The V6 also became standard issue.

Taken from this website:

http://www.sr5.net/sr5_sr5.htm

"SR5 stands for Sport Ralley 5 Speed. This is simply an upgrade trim package that was available similar to a Ford Lariat or a Chevy Silverado. Earlier model trucks had bucket seats, additional gauges/tach, stripes, carpet floors, and cloth interior. Later model trucks, although still SR5s, may have come with automatic transmissions. SR5 models do not necessarily come with air, tilt, chrome trim, power steering, or sun roof. Trucks with the SR5 package can usually be identified by finding an 'S' in the VIN code."

That's really interesting. So, basically, toyota had the base model, the SR5, the Sport, and then the Limited, right? Neato. I never knew that.

Thanks, have fun.

Ive got the 4 cyl and its not an SR5. it has most of the features a 6 cyl would have such as 4wd power windows, cruise control, rear heater, gold package....all that good stuff(basically everything else a sr5 would have with the exception for power windows, damnit) ive been told the 4 cyl has just as many ponies as the year before's V6

Yup, the 3rd gen 4Cyl has roughly the same output as the 2nd gen V6. I test drove both and couldn't tell a difference in output. I think a 3rd gen 4cyl would be a good choice for people who aren't towing driving in steep mountain terrain.

That statement is true for most of the 3rd gen 4R's. 2nd gen's were available in either base model, SR5, or in 95 they had the limited. 1st gens were available in base, utility, wagon, and sr5.
