Theft Detterent HELP!!

Does anyone know if the theft detterent system on a 99 4runner disables the starter, spark, and fuel injectors or does it just disable the spark and fuel injectors?

information about the security system is VERBOTEN unless you are a certified automotive security professional. then you can access the official Toyota security information available on the internets at paid-for download sites.

I am sure that no one will break the rules here on yotatech

but someone may chime in and prove me wrong, like me for instance
---yes it does, but it depends on the actual version of the factory system installed. some do, some don't
my limited has a chipped key and starter disabled when armed

cool thanks

Fyi im doing a 3.4 swap with 99 limited ecu. Starter is kicking over but Im not getting any spark or fuel. There is fuel pressure in the fuel lines. Looks like i have check my ground wires or do some wire tracing on the harness. Thanks agian

only thing is though I dont have any of the keys. I know you can bypass the system using modules for a remote start but that requires the key with the chip which i believe is just a resistor. but all in all in my opinion along with a few others, if it is a theft detterent issue my starter wouldnt even be turning. im tring to troubleshoot and decide where I should look for problems thanks agian for the info

Wrong, i know that the starter will turn for a fact with the wrong key.

When i was gettign replacement keys for my truck (found them for $10 on ebay) i tried starting the truck before i programmed them (which worked like a charm BTW) and i was surprised to hear the starter turn. But it would just turn and turn. The truck would not start though.

If you don't have the correct key then you are screw3ed and i am %95 sure that is you problem. Only people that can fix this without the key is the dealer and they are not cheap.

Good luck, i mean it.
