i recommend a full tank of gas, and run the heat until the smell is gone.
had a similiar prob w/ an oven (tooks 2 weeks to find the dry carcass) and it smelled every time the oven was on. smell was gone 1 day after cleanup and had left the stove on until it was gone.

Did you find any evidence as to how it got in there? The vent is on the cowl at the base of the windshield.

dude... how did you manage to take pics of the pieces you needed to remove and not ones of the culprit...

oh, and that really sucks, i think i would be a little disgusted having to deal with that, just think about what it felt like for the mouse. at least it wasnt that bad for you!

Greg, be glad you caught it early, man. Props to you for taking care of it yourself! The thing about mice is that they love eating cable, and a hungry one can cause a lot of damage in no time.

There was no way i was taking pictures of a half chewed mouse with guts splattered everywhere. It was bad enough cleaning it!! The only way i could see the mouse getting in would be crawling into the engine bay and in through a small crack between the plastic vent and the hood hinge. It was about 32 degrees, or some hot american equivilent temp. I have no idea why the mouse crawled in that far, unless it had a brain tumor.

It looked like the mouse fell right into the center of the fan, and i accidentily killed it before it could chew its way out of the fan cage.

Now im going to be all paranoid and mount a camera inside there. MOUSE VISION!

Reading this thread, I couldn't help but laugh at a pic I saw on a local motorcycle board about someone that tried to turn over their motorcycle after it had been in storage for the winter. It wouldn't crank, so the owner thought they would check out all the 'usual' stuff. Off with the airbox, and there was nearly a bushel of corn stashed in the air intake! Some poor mouse spent all winter packing that stash. I only wish I could turn up that picture now...
