Houston guy here... I'm heading out to Big Bend the 17th of March. I am hoping to find some good rocky trails out there. As for here in town, there is not much, but you get quite a few chances to use a snorkle!

Yes! I've actually been there. I was aftraid to go back there by myself so I didn't go any further than the mud in the field right outside it. We definitely need to make a run there--I need to do a few things to my truck before, but definitely some time soon.

TRunner - where exactly in the Big Bend? The park? If so, there are a lot of good rocky roads. Big Bend Ranch State Park is a ton of land as well, and I think there would be good places to get off-road there.

Dallas Fort Worth

If you're ever in the Dallas Fort Worth area you'll have to let me know. There are tons of places. Ok, not tons, but at least 3 very good ones.

But if you do you have to give me at least a month. I'm still working on my engine.

The best place is off of 360 right off of 183. Exit 360; go southbound and right after the Trinity exit is the entrance. Keep a sharp eye cause it's easy to miss. This place is more than 900 acres and is a blast. Sundays are the best day, that’s when all the crazy rigs are out.

On the NW side of LAke Grapevine (which is NW of Dallas) there is an offroading park with a bunch of mud and small hills. It looks as though mostly ATV's and motorcycles go there but there is evidence of bigger rigs.

When I get my rig fixed, suppose we could set up a play date in the DFW area? I'm having withdrawals...

I'd be up for a DFW run too but I need tires first which could take a month or two. I've never been to 360 or Marshall Creek, but I've been out to Benbrook many times.

Benbrook is great and I think with my engine rebuild in the process, you'll get that month or two you need. 360 is awesome!

PS. Does this look familiar?

...I am still with stock suspension so I will not be able to get all wild... But, I need to christen my rig
my wife is due with our baby in about a month so that might be bad timing..but I sure want to go wheel'n with some other people.

If y'all come out to El Paso, I'll show you some awful pretty desert...of course, you'd have to promise you wouldn't tear any new scars into it. We've got mountains, desert, volcanoes (cinder & spatter cones), lava flows, mines, dinosaur footprints, pre-dinosaur footprints, and it's all on BLM land. The mines have quartz, fluorite, barite, garnet, turquoise, magnetite, calcite, calcopyrite, pyrite and a lot more that I can't think of right now. At night you can drown in the starlight.

And all that is the reason I can't live anywhere east of El Paso.

My grandmother lives in El Paso. We were there a few weeks ago. You should get out more. What a drab town. But tell you what… My brother is flying down from Seattle and he had plans on making a road trip down there to see my Grandmother. If I can get my truck running by then, perhaps you can prove me wrong. We should be down there March 16th or 17th.
