I am looking around at what lift kits ppl put on their 4runners. I want to lift it about 2-3in and keep my DD quality handling and control. I know a lot of u run the Sonoran Steel lift kits. I was looking at the http://www.chaosfab.com/96500.html lift and i was wondering if anyone has ran that particullar lift kit. I know TC has quality products and is reputable i just want ppls feedback on the kit and quality of ride and handling.

i have to but i dont like doing wat everyone else does, its more fun to be different, thats like all the early 90's guys are going to sas where is the fun in that if everyone else has it? What is the benefits of this lift or the soranon steel lift? which is stronger? does anyone on here run this lift?

You should clarify what you are talking about.

Sonoran Steel is an authorized TC dealer.

Also, the SS lifts are usually new coils and coilovers. Most TC products are Long Travel set ups, and require new axles, as well as the coilovers, and most of the time the TC kits do not include the coilovers, you'd have to source those yourself.

Also, sonoran steel kits are usually under 1k, some by quite a bit. TC kits are going to be well over 2 grand.

Essentially, aside from the fact that both lift your truck, you are talking about 2 very different animals.

To be different? Tried and True is what i like on the trail. Thats SS kits for ya.....and he actually treats you like a customer--Great person to do business with

But SS kits will give you 2-2.5" of lift and then add larger tires--You have now accomplished your goal--With the 7.1 you can run 285 (33's) with minor trimming.

Want to be different--go to 35's and a 1.5 Body lift--not many people do that (relatively speaking)

Are you actually going to use the lift or are you doing it for looks?

If you want to be "different," put two 3" body lifts together

try a spacer lift and upgrade your coils

I am running the SS 7.1 kit and its great, I cleared 285/75R16 tires without any triming. The kit is great it comes with everything you will need and steve is a really nice guy to deal with, the kit also preforms great off road

Theres alot of people that run Total chaos products on here and other sites. The big question is do you want a lifted vehicle or do yo want alot of travel and droop from a ifs suspension. If you spend the money on the front TC kit you are going to have to do alot of work to the rear of the vehicle to match the performance, you will be into it for multiple thousands of dollars. Also look for user Brucets he has long travel front and rear also. I would love to do a long travel kit but right now its just not feasible on my daily driver. Hope this helps.

well i dont plan on jumping it, but i want the travel taht the TC offers, i dont have multiple thousands of dollars to spend, altho the TC kit i linked to is around $700, not including coils or rear suspension. i will probably go with the SS kit, what travel do u guys get out of that kit the 7.1?

The UCA's alone will net you little if any lift at all. That kit is designed to help correct caster angles durring the suspension cycle, provide a stronger solution to ball joints by using uniballs, and maybe gaining sme extra travel. The SS OEM lift plus the TC UCA's would be a pretty sick set up in my opinion.

I would also look into the Camburg, Allpro offroad, and the Donahoe ucas. Allpros are nice for the price and the Donahoes have a covered uniball, which will help with longevity.
