My timing is advancing itself somehow. I'll use a timing light to put it back to the factory setting and it won't run worth crap. I have to advance it about 50 degrees to get it to run properly, then about 2 days later, it has moved itself again. My timing belt is new, so I cant imagine it has skipped a few teeth. Is my distributor crapping out on me?

 

Mine did the same before I had the timing belt and tensioner redone....hope you find out your problem.

I replaced the TPS today. It seems to be running better. The timming still isn't lining up where it should. I had to time it by ear again. I will give it a couple of days then check to see if the timing has moved again. Thanks for the help.

 

depending on how many miles you have i would check the signal generator. It's basically at the end of the wires that go into the distributor. Mine is bad and the timing jumps all over the place. You'll need an ohm meter to check it, but I'll bet it's out of spec. Have you tried pulling diagnostic codes to see if anything comes up? Let us know what happens.
