Talking TaDaaa! Found the problem... Update on previous losing my mind post..

Well, I was right in one area at least... it WAS fuel related.. but I would have never guess what was causing the sudden jerking and shutting off and sputtering etc... Turns out is the Friggin emissions control box that resides on the kick panel neck to the fuse box. It had a shorted ground in it and was causing the deacceleration solenoid to cut off fuel as if I were deaccelerating when I was driving. Hence the dying when I hit the gas.. The shop, ( yes I bit my tounge and brought it to a shop) said they could locate one but at a used toyota place and they wanted 200 dollars for it So I said and went to the local Pick N Pull and found TWO of them for the grand total of 17 dollars and change.

Plugged it in and it works excellent!! Also picked up an extra ignitor while I was at it since it was there begging to be taken home. Damn things are insanely expensive!

Thanks to all that helped!

Pete

SCORE! glad you got it fixed... no more pulling out your hair! i spend a lot of time down in Campbell.... i am a roady for a local band based out of campbell, so my truck gets used to haul stuff quite frequently, and is pretty unique, so its hard to miss.....

what pick and pull did you go to by the way, and how much was the igniter? the pick n pulls i always go to never have anything for my truck.... all their yotas are pretty much stripped

Yeah, they usually are all stripped, but if you get there when they are putting out fresh meat, you can get quite lucky. Get this, they were having a special on tailgates, so I grabbed two fo them for 15.00 dollars each and traded them for a bedliner and the center caps that came on my Toyota when it was new.. Truck runs great now, starts right up, idles smooth and no more dying or hesistating... I'm gonna keep looking for those boxes and such.. finding them is getting to be impossible.

Thanks for your help!

Oh by the way, the ignitor was 20 bucks with the coil attached. I go to several pick and pulls, herein san jose there are two nearby... Sometimes I go all the way up to Fremont and if I am reall desperate, I go to Hayward and Oakland.
