Just bought an '04 and I noticed the temp guage sits a bit above half way. On my '01 4runner, same engine, 3.4, it sits dead center. Is this normal for the Tacoma? Where does anyone else's temp guage sit?

 

My 99 tacoma temp gauge rides the same pattern. A little bit over half way. I havent had it long, but it seems normal.

 

Mine sits in the same place (04 Tacoma). I thought it was bad or wrong at first, but other Tacomas do this too. Then I stuck a ScanGaugeII in the truck and watched the water temp in real time, and verified the truck was running OK.

Something changed in manufacturing the gauges, and so they sit like that. No one could give me a god answer as to what changed, or why.
