Tacoma SAS, axle questions.

first off, id like to say long time no see!! this is a great forum and i cant believe its been almost 2 years since i last posted here. im going to sas in my 2000 taco, and figured this was a good place to ask a few questions/toss around some ideas, and soak up some yotatech knowledge! this will be a dd/wheeler build and im looking at going with 36"/37" tire with minimal lift.

1.anybody here using the TG true width tacoma housing? if so, how does the drive line/caster angle turn out?
2.does anybody make a spring hanger kit for that housing?(i know TG does but i only see it available with the whole kit.)
3.i know the waggy dana44 axle is a common choice, but im unsure of the best year of axle to look for. ive searched and found people using them from late 70's to early 80's. is there an optimal year? or were they all the same in that era. i would also like to know how the drive line/caster angle works out for this axle also. any help would be great.

i'd say figure out if you want to run driver side diff or passanger and go from there. TG also sells all there components seperatly. if you cant find it on the site call or ask a vendor. i run an old 85 housing and my tires till stick out past the limited flares. the tacoma housing i bet your tire would stick out 6-7 inchs each side.

pros of driver side diff are you can keep your current tcase/exhaust/ and crossmember.
with passanger side all that stuff needs to get changed. or modified.

the best year waggy axle is from a grand wagonneer 87-91 i think. 6lug dana 44

thanks for the info philly! im going to keep my stock tcase so drivers drop it is! got any pics of your runner? 85 axle is narrower than the stock taco rear so i would think that a true width taco front housing would be perfect, i.e TG/ waggy44.

thanks cameoman53, sweet ride you got there.
what is your opinion on the way it handles on the hwy?
any dislikes about the housing?

im thinking about getting just the axle and then just piece/fab the hanger kit, shock hoops etc.. $699 for the housing with chromo 30 spline inner axles sounds like a decent place to start.

It rides amazing for a straight axle, on a decent road you would think its ifs, but on a really bumpy road its got some bounce to it, I-5 at 60mph on really bad parts it takes some work to keep straight but its not to bad, i love the housing, i like the design of the pumpkin for extra clearance and it has a (about 1inch) extra drop down at the ends of the axle for more clearance, it has a little bit of bump steer do to TG soft springs but can be eliminated with a custom sway bar similar to a dodges set up or maybe a stiffer spring choice, but it doesn't bother me any so its really depends on what you want your ride to feel like.
