Tacoma fuel gauge issue

Hey all, so now that we're spending our days drifting around parking lots, instead of wheeling rocks I've noticed that my gas gauge has started to read incorrectly.

The gauge will show a full tank right after I fill it up and then proceed to read below the actual fuel level until i fill it up again. I'm making sure to never go more than 150 miles/tank as I'm not sure of where my real fuel level is. I normally see about 350 miles to a tank, so I know I'm being really conservative here.

The gauge seems to consistently read several gallons below the actual level in the tank when the air temperature is consistently below freezing. I'm normally at 90-100 miles in at the 3/4 mark, yet; when the gauge is misreading I'm at ~1/2 tank, when I've traveled the same 90-100 miles.

I've gone through several tanks of fuel, so I don't think I got bad gas.

I searched around a bit a read about the 4 runner issues. I've been told by a good friend that dropping the tank isn't too big of a hassle on the Taco's, I just want to make sure that I check everything else before I shell out for a new sending unit.

So, is there anything else i should check? I know that there is the trip meter button pressing sequence for the 4runners, but I couldn't find a definitive answer on whether or not that works for the Tacos.

Please let me know of any idea's or things to check.

I haven't gotten any error codes either.

Was wondering what you did to resolve this?
