tacoma frame buy back

My truck is probably going to be bought back by toyota, does anyone think they would notice if i switched out the trd e-locker rear end for my '89 rear end? do they look at them that close? it's nice to have a selectable rear locker.

If its being bought back for the frame then I would think that nothing else on the truck would matter IMO

take out the engine and tranny and drop in a 22re thats about to die. that way you can do a 3.4 swap (if ur engine is a 3.4). just tell them if they ask that you blew up the engine, and had the 22re layin around. lol. or the 3.0

I think i will once i find out what the hell they are going to do. I would really like to put the 3.4 in my 3.slow 4runner. it is really gay that you cant buy back a half cut or something. it is such a waste! I have religously ran amsoil in my truck, i take good care of it!

once it goes in you can't touch it, and they can't sell or give anybody parts off of it. how they go in is how they go to the crusher.

its too much of a liability for toyota to sell anything off of the recalled trucks.

so if i were you i would start returning your rig to stock, and if i had the 89axle i would swap it out.

i have heard of people towing there yotas to the dealership. If only they were idiots and you slapped the 3.0 in there.

Do whatever you have to do to swap out or keep any parts. They don't care. I dropped mine off with no exhaust. There's a guy on the Tacoma Territory board that had a blown engine and they still took his rig. Just drop in a junk engine and get it towed in.

^Good luck with the swap!

I wonder what Toyota would do if you just brought in the rusty frame by itself. ie: no cab, bed, drivetrain, etc. You could say everything but the frame was stolen.

ive see a lot of them at the dealer near my house in mass and if they deem it unsafe they park it right then and you dont have a chance to take any thing off so do it before the truck goes in many of them there still had alot of add ons still on them caps ,nice wheels ,racks ,ect and the owners never had a chance to take them off so do anything before they look at it

Yeah some of the trucks brought to us, once toyota buys them, we can take some stuff off.
