Thanks! Yeah, I'll probably take them back off and spray the weights with some extra wheel paint that I still have lying around. I'm working on getting rid of all the chrome on the vehicle one step at a time.

Cal01, those are the ever elusive WELD Super Single Sidewinders. They made very few of those, and are very, very, very hard to find for a reasonable price, and in the right size and backspacing. I would know, I've been looking for a set for my '08 FJ Cruiser since I first got it. Jegs can scrounge up a set, but only in a 15", won't clear my calipers. Maybe you'll have better luck finding them, and if you do, PLEASE share the info with me as I am still looking................ good luck............

Yea, I was under the impression all 3rd gen 4runners had a drivers side t-case. Maybe it's not 4wd? I don't see a front driveshaft, but I could be wrong.

He's got crawlers in it so that may have changed things around under there.

Thanks everyone for the comments on my truck. The build can be seen at the link below if interested. I did install the older geardrive dual case setup for the pass. side drop. Still need to have a front driveline made. also the wheels are 17x8 welds I found on craigslist. A doctor bought them in 2003 for a land cruiser project that never panned out. He sold me 5 never mounted wheels and caps plus 24 new lugs for $500.00.

From the weekend. We went out and cruised the beach on Williston Lake. There is a large hydroelectric dam on the lake, which makes for some safer wheeling, i.e. no tides to worry about.

I know the rig doesn't qualify, but I thought I would share a picture of how my brother in law got stuck enough that we needed an excavator to get him out. In the process the frame was bent, the pinion snapped, the drag link was shaped into a large horse shoe, both front fenders were mangled beyond being usable, and the cab ended up with about 3 inches of sand in it and the engine and front diff and transmission are full of water. The truck is a write off.

I suppose I should explain why this happened. As you can see this is a sand beach. We were wheeling all day, in and out of the water. Everywhere we went was solid ground. Before he went in we checked the water depth and it was only 6", we walked through it and it felt like everywhere else we had gone. As soon as he rolled into the water the sand just gave out and he sunk. In the above picture the water is shallow enough that you can actually walk on sand that washed in over his hood.

Very much. I have to give my brother in law a lot of respect. He has quite the temper, but he kept his head on throughout this entire episode and never snapshowed. As I type he is stripping the good parts off the truck.

Nicely put. We did get the beast started yesterday. Now he is not sure if he should put it back together and run it or just sell some of the good parts.
