Swaybar endlink sheared...pics
Anyone know what could have caused this to happen:
There had been a clicking sound from that side of the truck for a month or so and today it turned into a clunk whenever i make a right hand turn. I thought I'd have a look and i found this. Anyone have a clue as to what could have made it break? Are these parts cheap? I thought i might have read something on someone making their own disconnects, if so is this an easy option?
Another question. Do the rubbber bushings that surround the sway bar wear out? If so do they have replacements at autozone or the likes? Im talking about these:
Thanks in advance.

Uwharrie did that I'd bet. I took off my swaybar a long time ago and can hardly tell the difference anymore. If you feel that you have to use the swaybar get some disconnects for when you hit the trails. They probably have a polyurethane bushings or something at autozone.

BTDT.. Local parts store didn't have a replacement listed so they did an eye ball search.. found a Moog link for a Buick that fit like a glove.. did both sided..

Yeah, streesing your sway bars can do that. Very good handling cars can cause this because they're putting so much stress on the bars as they go around corners. In your case you're articulating the suspension very much and the sway bars are taking a lot of stress while inhibiting any more flex at the same time... over time it wears them and breaks them. No big deal. Just as someone else says, get quick disconnects. FOr a street driven vehicle, i advise against removing the sway bars. 98% of the time you can get away without it. But that 2% of the time could be the difference between a near accident and a roll-over.
