Suspension Round-Up

I am going to start working on a suspension article for all 3 gens of 4Runner and also trucks.
We get a lot of questions all the time on how to list a rig, and what all is involved.

This will be an ongoing project, so there really is no deadline.
I'll try and get some started tomorrow.

If you want to do a write-up on your lift, all I need is a few (2 to 4) 640x480 resolution pictures (JPGs only) , and some text detailing what you have for:
Shocks
Springs
Spacers
T bars ( if '86 to '95)
Your full name & username
Link to your homepage, optional

You get the idea. And if you would do the same method again, or something different.
Also how you like the way it rides over the stock setup, and how much lift you got out of it, and if you are happy with it on & off road.

Hopefully this will help out folk's making a decision when asking about lifts.

All submissions should be directed to me here.

I certainly did

Keep 'em coming...

Also if you submit your write-up, make sure you put down what size tires your'e currently running with the setup.

Sounds good Stump.

OK, I have a few reviews up already.
Doesn't seem like to many have lifted their rigs yet

Look for the article on the "YotaTech on the web" link on the main page here.

Its a good start, i'm sure it will grow to be a great resource. There is no mention of Racerunner coilovers yet which is the most popular way to lift the front of 3rd gens and Tacomas.

WANTED: Rear leaf spring tech. I've got a million ideas swirling around my head for hybrid spring packs. Anyone tried leaves from a junkyard late model GMC Jimmy sandwiched between stock overload and top leaves with Polyeurethane bushings and slightly longer shackles and U-bolt flip? I want to. I just have to find a time when I can have the truck torn apart for a few days straight.

I know there are lots that have lifted their rigs. Maybe folks just don't have time to submit write-ups this time of year. I'm sure they will start coming in after the holidays.

Ryan's rig is in there with the RaceRunner coil overs.

Luke will have one later for his 2nd gen done with the additional 1.5" spacer puck and panhard drop bracket from Downey.

i haven't really sat down and read any of them yet but it looks like a great idea. I was just thinking of posting about it cause I'm will be in the market in a month or two to buy the parts to lift my truck. Just one thing, I don't know if anyone has done this in their write up's but how about adding where you got the parts too. I'm more likely to buy from someone that yotatech memeber deem a good place to buy stuff than some random company out of a magazine.

Hi Krash, I have a list of the retailers of the parts on the index page to the articles.

Most of those parts are resold through warehouse places like Central 4WD, 4x4 Connection, and Xtreme Off-Road (Mike on the forum here) and other places.

Our vendor section also lists many places these parts can be bought at.

Thanks for putting this section together, it will definitely come in handy for me. Suspension is the next thing on my 4Runner list, and hopefully it will make things easier to sort through.

I'm not looking to go for broke, so RaceRunners are probably out for me. I'm just looking for a little more lift, something like PP springs and bilsteins.

As soon as my DSL at home is working again, I will send pics and a write-up. I have lifted my 96 slightly.

Sounds good Alan.

The pics can be bigger than 640x480 if you have them, and I can shrink them down when I add your entry to the ongoing articles.

My suspension is almost generic these days (SAW / Downey / Bilstein / ATS) but I have done a lot of work / research in the air bag arena with the rear springs, primaily for added load capability with a lift.

Any interest in a write up addition regarding air bags to the suspension page? I am working on the finishing touches to my own site revision and would be happy to share.

Mike
