Superlift on 94Runner, special tools needed...

Me and my father will be putting a 4" Superlift on my 94Runner next weekend. Are there any special tools we are going to need? In the instructions, it says "use a 'puller' to remove ball joint..." Will a hammer work just fine?... or is there a certain tool.

just trying to get everything set for next weekend!

Haven't put a lift in mine yet, but I do know you'll need a puller since the lower ball joints fit by compression. Sure you probably could pound it out but your not gonna get much of a swing, you'll probably damage the treads or bend the shaft, and you'll end up waiting until you get a puller after you've tryed. You might want to look into either renting or buying, they range in price from about $20.00 to $98.00 US.

You can probably borrow a "ball joint puller" from Autozone.

Good luck.

hey man, it's about time that someone else on here is using a Superlift kit too. I've had mine on for about 6 months now and I really like it. Anyways, yes, you'll need a "puller" for the ball joints, but if I remember correctly it's only the upper joints that need to be pulled. I used the puller on the tie-rod ends too. It's a fairly easy lift to install, but I did it by myself so there were times that I wanted to set my truck on fire b/c I was so frustrated at it. Get pics of it for us when you're done.

put that kit on my 90 pickup. I didn't use the ball joint puller, just a hammer(but be carfull or you can ruin you ball joint). Also ran into a problem getting the cam bolts out. Had to use the sawzall and cut them. Then replace them with ones i got at the dealer. Also have lots of penatating oil, some of the bolts are a bit rusty.

Don't know if you have Kragen back east, but they do free 2 day rentals, and have pretty much any tool you'll need.

Kragen, Checker and Schuck's are all the same company.

Chances are, one of them is near you.
