Stupid paint question

I was told toyota white paint is not clear coated. Does anyone know if this is true? I was told that is the reason Toyota white is hard to keep and why it gets chauky fast if not maintained(higher maintenance than other paint). Also, would 97 4runner white be the same as 97 camery white?
I wanted a quick answer and my paint shop professional is not available so I knew where to go!
Thanks!

Almost forgot. Any recommendations about special wax for this color? I use Zaino Bros now.

Seems posable but I have never heard that before. I have been using color match turle wax for my black 91 and it really takes the swirls out! I don't want to poish the damn thing more than once a year for the sake of the paint so it helps out for the inbetween times. Just wax it every 3 months max and the paint will last forever.

My '84 is not clearcoated. It really isn't necessary with white as white isn't as deep a color as others.

Not necessarily. Check the paint code. In '84, Toyota used three different whites so it may well be the case with newer vehicles as well.

Thanks for all the responses guys!
Looks like I used the wrong Zaino(Z-2). Got it for free anyway. Looks like I need Z-3 plus the additive.

If my 4Runners red paint is clearcoated I'll be a monkey's uncle.

Use it and don't worry about it. I've been using the Z2 on my wife's white Tacoma. I used the Z3 on her's the first time and didn't like the way it felt. The Z3 didn't feel as smooth and slick as the Z2 did on my clearcoated gold Runner so I just use the Z2 on her's now. Z5 to fill in small swirls and Z2 on the white paint from now on.

I did use it once before the winter. It seemed to hold up OK but needs to be done again. I guess I should use up the rest of the Z2. I guess it can't hurt. I wonder what is the difference between the two? I guess a little research is in order.
Thanks

Toyota, and just about all the other car companies, are schisophrenic when it comes to clear coating. They always do, except when they don't.

I've worked with the vehicle manufacturers body shop facilities on the shipping piers for years now. Where the various companies like Toyota and Ford and all the others ship their cars in and out of the country. They fix up the various dings and damage. #1 griping is the incredible inconsistency of clear coating. I've looked at identical colored vehicles that came off the same production line back to back and one is clear coated, the other is not.
