By looking at some of these grill inserts, wouldn't it be cheaper to go to Home Depot or Lowes and just buy gutter guards and cut them yourself? Same principal right?

I've been working on a mockup for a grille using that exact material. IMHO, that screening is too delicate and flexible which makes it susceptible to denting and bending. Also, I think it is to fine (thin) and obviously gutter guard material. My mockup is for behind the grille instead of flush with the surface. I would need to make a mold to shape the heavier material around in order to make a proper fitting grille like the Street Scene grille. Take a look at the different color grille screen being sold Eastwood; it is anodized aluminum. At about $35 a sheet I would not want to make a mistake cutting it. Thanks for your comments

Where did you get those tail lights? I got a new PP catalog the other day also, but I didn't see the grill inserts you're talking about for the 4Runner. What is on the front of your catalog and what page did you find them on? Later.

That's the one-piece overlay grill. The design we've been talking about is two-piece and inserts above and below the center bar that has the Toyota Logo. Personally, I think the overlay design that is in the catalog you reference is ugly.

Dexter,
You appear to be a very creative guy and Iike that. The Putco grille sounds like it was awful ... something like the ones I have seen on big Chevy SUV's. I guess billet bars could be nice but I am so-o-o stuck on wanting the aluminum diamond shaped mesh grille inserts like my S10 has that nothing else will do. As soon as it warms up a bit I will continue to work on my mockup screening. Show me pics of your grille when you finish it ... please.

you got it. i ordered that ghetto kit off ebay for 25 bucks with the chrome strips and im gonna slap those on the 00 grill when it gets here to get a better idea of my idea (that hurt my head to say) but the chrome strips from them dont look bad at all and match my 96's chrome grill really well. ohh well they are jsut temporary.

like you i want a streetscene style grill also but maby in a few years

Not a word, but I have not called them again. I will nudge them again when I get back from my trip. Please call them yourself too.

a while back i saw on eBay a set of mesh inserts the covered the entire front (hood scoop, middle section and lower valance). unfortunately, i can no longer find them. i, too, am looking for some sort of setup that lays between the grille seperations as opposed to covering them.

PLEASE contact Street Scene and express your dire need for their grille and tell them there are dozens of 4Runner owners that you know of personally that want their product.

Has anyone seen or used the aluminum mesh material made by Wings West? It is part of their 3d Carbon line according to the product listing I just saw in a new JCWhitney catalog. It comes in a 12" x 60" sheet for $65.00.

I called Street Scenes again and begged them to get moving on the production of the grille for the '01 - '02 4Runner. I asked them to be responsible enough to be truthful and tell me if this grille was ever going to get produced. The CS rep, David, went back to speak to someone and came back saying it was at least 6 months away; then he looked at a production report schedule that he justg got while we were speaking and it is on the "to be produced" roster as #6, after the grille for the Ford Ranger. He estimates that production is about 3 months away on this product. He also said they are short handed right now, so you know what that usually means. I suppose if someone wanted to compose a letter of request addressed to the owner of the company that might help since he is one of the major decision makers. At least I keep trying to get this thing done and I hope anyone here who wants what I want will do the same and call or write them with a request. Refer to the part number in any correspondence please.
