96 4runner v6 auto. 153,000 miles
Just changed my plugs and wires recently. Truck ran great and then developed a high idle when warm. On starting, would start rough, and have a low idle. After warm idle went up to 1600 rpm.
Now after driving for a week, idle back to 800 or so when warm, but won't start without giving it throttle when cold, and barely starts when warm (idles at 400 when started without giving throttle.)

Did clean throttle body when I had intake tube off, but did not remove tps sensor. Did I just mess up the sensor? tried resetting ecu a couple times when i had high idle to no avail. low idle just happened...

 

Try re-cleaning the throttle body. Take it off this time and remove and clean the IAC (which is attached to and underneath the TB). This may just solve your problem. Doubt you did any damage to the TPS. Clean the MAF sensor too, another possible cause of your symptoms.

 

after another couple days driving, the problem seemed to have fixed itself. Probably ecu having to re-learn everything. Very strange.
