You get your runner stolen and I get almost 4k in tools stolen on the same day. Let's break out the dogs and shot guns and get busy. Seriously though I am getting sick of this crap. We work hard for our tools and toys and it really pisses me off when someone just craps all over that. I can't remember the last time I have been this mad.

I'll keep an eye out in Central-Ohio-Dayton area. Also will put out the word to TrailsWest, they deal in used parts and tires and such.

I'm in Louisville and will keep an eye out for it. If the guy's dumb enough to leave it as it is and drive it, it should be easy to spot.

Hate to say it dude but if those theives had a lick of sense that truck would be in pieces within 24 hours. If it was a bunch of joyriding kids you still might have a chance...One good thing is that your not near the border like we are...A car can be stolen in LA and San Diego and be in Mexico in no time flat.

Wish you great luck in finding it though that is one really nice truck.

Recovered

It was found today from a tip. Someone saw the two guys leavin the truck.. It was buried back against some trees behind an elk lodge. Looks like the works of some hoodlums.. BASTARDS!!! The tore the interior up really bad... took everything worth having on the inside and broke the drivers side window. Cd player, CB radio, Tools, Shift knob???, O2 sensor???, and tickets to the Rolex KY 3 day event. They left my checkbook but pillaged everything else, Looks like they ran it on the curb for a couple miles cause the tires look burned on the passenger side. I haven't had a chance to do much more investigating... Oh and I've got a MAJOR OIL LEAK all the sudden... I'll have to look into that one. But "Black Betty" is back!!! Thanks for your support!!!

I am glad that you got it back. Too bad it's torn up though. So this leads to the obvious question as to how are you planning on making sure this doesn't happen again. I have been thinking about this and there are several different ways to "kill" the vehicle. What do you think is the best way?

1. Grant removeable/locking steering wheel
2. Some type of alarm - a decent one can be had for less than $300 installed
3. A hidden kill switch

Any rig that a professional thief really wants, they'll get, but sounds like some simple measures would have stopped these two idiots. A flatbed tow truck can always do it too, but that is a little blatant for most folks.

Glad to hear you got that beast back. I hope they didn't tear it up too bad. I'm assuming you only had liability.

Other tips (common sense)
I never park my rig outside at night.
I never leave it parked anywhere for extended periods of time except at work and there are too many folks in/out there in the fenced in yard for someone to even think of stealing a rig...last person the shop guys caught messing w/ a truck they beat him w/ hand tools.
Always disable the rig when you park it, even if leaving for 5 minutes, if it is going to be out of your sight.

Good ending to an unhappy story.

Ah kill switches....

<kicks self in ass>

I have kill switches, I just didn't use them that day.

I have one for the fuel pump, and for the coil.

</kicks self in ass>

*sigh*... NEVER AGAIN!

I have my kill switch in my lockable Tuffy center console right by the radio, so when I close it to lock it (by 2nd nature anytime I get out now) the switch is right by the radio flap that I have to shut, so it will be nothing to simply flip the switch off.

I do believe that your kill switches would have stopped those two bafoons dead "kill"...get it...in their tracks.

Glad you got it back though.

always good to hear about a recovered rig, so many people never see their vehicles again. sorry to hear about the damage, there is no need for that. maybe youll get lucky and the witnesses were able to provide a description of the thieves, for the justice system, of course.
