when my cat was off and i drove the truck, the engine threw a code in reference to a lean fuel bank- if i do install a straight pipe in place of the cat will the simulator prevent this code? assuming all wiring is good to both o2 sensors. a striaght pipe with the stock o2 sensors will foul the computer and a lean fuel mix will result along with a under powered motor. thanks
Did the downstream wiring get cut or mangled? If the o2 heater circuit is shorted, your o2 would be reading out pretty lean, but you would probably get a heater circuit code for the o2 also.
All o2 sensors on a vehicle usually get the heater feed from the same source. Like if one o2 heater gets shorted and blows the fuse, they all will have issues.

both o2 sensor's wires seem to be intact. I will crawl underneath tonight and take a 2nd look. After the cat was jacked and I drove the truck home with open exhaust, the truck was very sluggish. After about a 15 min fun ride with open exhaust, the motor threw a lean code. I will get the code tonight and post as well. After I had a new cat welded in place, I erased the code and no other codes popped. So I assume the wires are ok. I will double check though. thanks

mine was stolen from my driveway. I replaced it with a aftermarket cat and got horrible gas mileage and an engine code too. I complained to my insurance company and they replaced it with a oem cat.

yes the front cut actually started to cut into the o2 sensor mount. The dumb ass stopped after he figured he was cutting into the sensor- so the cut was less than an inch away. I ordered the $59 simulator from URD and I will order the straight pipe (tester pipe) from LC engineering and see if this set up works. This is for my 2000 taco with the 2.7 motor. I emailed URD for info on the $59 simulator but they have not answered me back?? Maybe they do not want to let me know who makes this cheaper part? It looks identical to the $159 unit LC engineering offers- made by Split Second- model ESC1- The $59 unit from URD may be a Chinese knock off?? You know in general if you go cut rate on any part, you generaly get a crap part. Does any one have experience with this part from URD?? Thanks!

I wonder how much you can sell a used cat for? And who do they sell it to? The shops that perform repairs for insurance companies? What a pain in the ass but whatever if you need drug money, right. Just one cat to get high.

Metal recyclers. I sold my 13 year-old OEM 3.0 cat for $140. The new one I bought was $60.

The CatClamp (Patent-Pending), created by American Welding Inc, places a catalytic converter in a theft-proof cage made of aircraft cable. That's a heavy duty solution, and only carries a price tag of around $150. Compare that to a $2000 repair bill for having your catalytic converter stolen. You can reach CatClamp at 419.478.1313 or on the web at www.catclamp.com.

i suspect some metal recyclers down my way are sending guys out to steal the cats. they set up a set fee and then mention this to some of their co-workers or near by thugs and the process starts. someone has to establish a market before the "products" start to appear. basic supply and demand principals!
after installing the high flow cat- the truck did throw a p0420 code- looks like i will need to install the URD simulator to prevent the code..........

check out the photos- "test pipe" installed in place of the cat from LCM and a 02 simulator from URD= no cat to steal and no codes coming on and I have a noticible gain in power from this 4 banger!
