I will be heading out to Evans Creek today a will keep an eye out. Lots of stolen rigs end up there. I found a rig that belonged to an Iron Worker out there last year. I have seen many rigs burned and striped out there. It is sad and makes me furious to see that kind of disregard for other peoples stuff.

It would give me great pleasure to catch someone in the act.

If the find that low down pole cat, don't kill him. Send him to Ft. Louis in an Arab shround with a tie wrap around his b@lls. They need some target practicing over there.

the police found her in maple valley this afternoon. got it towed home, i was at work. just now came home, hard to see true condition in the dark but...ign/steering column beat up bad, driver's kick panel off and wires pulled out, altimeter gone, under the hood, they cut all sorts of wires for reasons i can't figure out. mikes's bottles all over, cigarette butts, condoms-WTF?!-unused. top still on, digi dash still there.

overall i'd say i'm gonna be alright. since the ign is toast i dont know if it still runs. does anyone know if insurance covers any kinda of mech. damage? thanks to everyone for keeping an eye out. we'll see what insurance will do, i had full coverage. i wouldnt mind it totalled out and i could buy it back and fix it myself. how much does it take for an insurance co. to total it?

Glad to hear you got it back Matt, that sucks that they did that much to it though.

If you have full coverage then you should be ok, just make sure EVERYTHING that's damaged/missing gets noted. Damage to the electrical system can be expensive, if you can get it covered have the entire wiring harness replaced not just patched up. To total a vehicle the cost of repair has to exceed the book value of the vehicle. If you need parts just let us know, we might be able to help you find stuff.

I am glad you got it back.

The insurance will pay for the theft minus what ever your deductable is.
It is possible the insurance company might want to junk it. If, so ask for the buy back price on it. I would contact your insurance company to have someone come out on Monday or so to begin the paper work and evalute its condition.

A risk analysis indicates changing the ALL the locks, if the vehicle is used helps so down some. A vehicle alarm, ignition disconnect switch or battery to starter disconnect switch, and a NRA member sticker (LOL).

If I by a used vehicle I always remove the current alarm and replace it. If it's a stock alarm on a Yota, I would have it re-coded. The late eights Yota suffers from fatigue and worn locks. It's easy to gain access and force the ignition switch with a wrech. By replacing the locks it increases the time it takes tool steal it. With the alarm, new locks and a ignition or battery to starter disconnect you create layers of security. Making it harder to steal it.

IMHO

I am glad you got it back, and hopefully your insurance company will do you good.

What do I have for theft deterents?
1. A very good alarm by DEI that kills the starter.
It has glass breakage sensors also, and also a battery backup just in case they do try and cut wires.
But if they pop the hood to try and do that, there is a hood pin that will set the alarm off.
Best part is I have a pager that will work for a few miles from the rig.
If I get paged while I am asleep, I can be outside in seconds.
I may run out in my undies, but that will make me all the more pissed off and ready to rumble with the punks.

2. A steering wheel lock from Krptonite I purchased years ago.
Yes, they can cut the wheel, but once inside the cab the alarm and pager are already going off.

3. A nifty sign, and a thief never knows if I am going to do it not to them.

I can't say publicaly on here what I'd do, as that might pin a pre-meditated murder rap on me

For us Washington guys, a WAC membership ID hanging from the mirror is a great compliment to the NRA sticker.

Corey, I think the sight of you running out in your undies will be more than enough to scare off most any thief.
