I've got a 2" Cornfed lift on the front end of my Taco and was wondering if the stock/factory jack will be able to lift my front end up if I get a flat. I've also got 275/70 16s on as well.

I'm too damn lazy to get it out and try it

 

The factory bottle jack will extend to fifteen.five inches. Now if I were you I would try it prior to getting out on a trail, getting a nasty flat, and finding out the hard way you need a jack that will lift the rig sixteen.five inches. That would suck. Plus hey highlifts go for around $40.

 

I had to jack mine up once on 2" of snow and it didn't make it. So I found a brick and put it under the jack and it worked. The brick won't fit anywhere out of site, so now I have 2 pieces of 4"x4" plastic "wood" posts that I cut and fit in the crevices under the back passenger-side seat by the jack. So next time I have an extra 7".

 

OK, thanks for the quick reply, BBB. I don't do any trails, I've got a street queen, but I still wouldn't wanna be stuck in the middle of nowhere with a jack that's not tall enough. BTW, would you know where I can pick a Hi-Lift up for a good price?

 

A Hi lift is useless on a vehicle without sliders, aftermarket front/rear bumpers or at least a trailer hitch- try to use it anyplace else and you'll be replacing some sheetmetal afterwards. Your nerf bars will not support the weight of your vehicle.

 

David, so am I SOL or is there another solution to my dilemma? Yeah, I know, I could always carry a floor jack in my rig, but that would be impractical.

 

You should be able to jack from the bottom A arm just fine. Then you dont have to fight the suspension

 

I always carry a few scraps of 2x lumber, not only for extra height but for extra stability in mud. Those little jack bases sink into mud real nicely.

 

Ditto what these guys said. I've used my bottle jack with 3" of lift without trouble, but it is cutting it close. Carrying a couple of wood blocks is good, especially offroading where you might be fighting the jack pressing into the ground. On pavement, you should be okay. When in doubt, just go out and try it...

Place the jack under the lower A arm. This way the only thing that affects a change in the height is larger tires. The stock jack will still be able to extend plenty far even with 35" tires.

 

Doesn't the aftermarket 4-ton bottle jacks have greater reach than the stock jacks?
