Stickers in the door frame
i was looking at the stickes that were in my door frame and there are two of them...there is the big one that has the details and all. then right under that there is another one. i cant read it though because half of it is missing. i was wondering if anyone knows what this stick is for. i can read some for it...i can read the date which is 7-15-98 and then it says something(cut off) motor sales usa. thats all i can read..but there isnt more than this to the sticker. just asking if anyone knows what its for? maybe a dealer that sold, or worked on it or something..thanks

i is most likely a sticker put on there when they did your headgaskets. The technician how did the job will put that on there so that any other Toyota Dealers can easily see whne the job was done.

yeah there was a recall on head gaskets back in 1998 or sometime around then..
i have taken this from the 4runner FAQ that is written and maintained by Robinhood150 (Steve)
"12. What is this headgasket recall I keep hearing about and how do I know if my 4Runner/Truck has been worked on?
Technically it's not a recall, it's a "Special Service Campaign." It affects most, but not all, 3.0L V6 engines. While the 3.0L is a reliable engine if maintained, they are notorious for the head gasket going out relatively early.
To find out whether your 4Runner/Truck has had the headgasket fixed, give your VIN number to your dealer, or call Toyota's helpline. If your head gasket has not been fixed, they should still honor the campaign and fix any damage free of charge, this includes a new engine if the block is damaged. "
