I have a 04 tacoma double cab 4x4 and when I go on gravely or rougher roads I have a slight rattling sensation in the steering wheel. There is no play in the steering and everything is good on the main highways. Can anyone tell me whats going on or what I can do? Thanks

 

The steering rack guide is one thing to look into. There are also parts of the steering shaft that could have play, the shaft attached directly to the steering wheel, going through the firewall. My steering had play, and it was the steering rack guide. Pretty easy job.
