I am waiting on a front diff to arive from Canada and I wanted to drive my truck. In order to do this with out a front diff I removed my diff, drive shaft and used 2 old cv outer joints (minus the axle shaft and inner joints) to hold the wheel bearings in. I am experienceing vibration around 70-80 in the transfer case shift nob, I think it is from the front output shaft spinning without resistance, no problem I guess. The problem is that the steering rack pops when I turn sharp or abruptly. It usually happens turning left. This is my second rack and did not have this problem ever. I don't know if it is due to not enough resistance from the lack of CVs or what. What is in the steering rack that would make this noise?????
