me 3!!! only way to turn it off is to press the fob with the door closed!

 

Click on the link I posted and click CATALOG on the menu. Those locks are like mine. They look nothing like stock locks.

 

That's why I run multiple kill switches to make it a little more difficult for scumbags to steal my Toy.

 

Sucks that this happens but if someone really wants your car they will take it.

Scary statisitics, at the local mall 10 minutes from my house they steal 90 cars a month out of the parking lots, it's right off a major highway and minutes from the city, also at this same mall if you go out to your car and your a single female and a guy offers to help fix your flat go back into the mall

The Toyotas have always been popular at least here, down by several of the train stations a group of guys where using master keys to steal peoples yotas after they boarded the train that morning, 8-10 hours later when they returned their cars where never to be seen again and several hundred toys where stolen up to 20 a day:pat:

They also hit the dealerships, stealing about 10 brand new camrys a month.

Lastly their was a group of guys stealing German cars with laptops and scan tools, they where actually able to open the cars with cell phones/palm pilots, ajust the cars memory settings and radio station to their comfort and drove away like the car was their, many of these cars where targets from the start being stolen out of owners garages while they slept, isn't technology great

Their is alot more then just this, down by the infiniti dealer the cops caught some guys pulling the engines out of a G35coupe 3 in the morning, laughed my azz off when someone went to move the car popped the hood to jump the battery and the engine was gone but the battery was fine

The Bimmer dealer looks like a jail with the barbed wire fencing and yeah Im more then slightly paranoid when I leave my car

 

I was working in Folsom, CA one night. There were security cameras and patrols watching the cars parked in the lot.

Two 85 4runners were stolen. Both were found stripped between Compton and Stockton.

Face it, if you have an old toy you are screwed. Why? Because it's so easy to fit a "slim jim" between the window and door skin.

Later year Toyota have a metal ridge in the door that prevents it.

And if you have a old toy change your ignition lock. I hear 10 year olds can pick them or break them with a wretch / screw driver combo. And don't get me started about using sliders to open doors and ignition locks. Distructive little tools but, highly effective.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

That's insane though, 90 cars a month from one mall?! And there still not catching on?

 

Yep, I think this thread just bumped up the alarm on the list of things to do. Matter of fact gonna start looking for one now.

 

this is true many older 79-85 toyota's i think there are only 5 different key sets. allot of times friends keys will work. all cars have master keys most now have couple hundred tho.

 

What I am saying is my tumblers on my door locks could not be "worn out" I can count on one hand how many times I have used the key in the doors.

 

My friend had a 79 Toyota that would start with any key , Ford, Chevy, etc. If you were strong enough you could turn it with just your fingers.

My 2001 you can't slim-jim (maybe someone can) but with just enough pressure on the rear slider it will open with out breaking and that scares me. Ask the Wa. 4ROC guys they will tell you.

 

Speaking of alarms, does anyone know much about them? I need to install one in my taco but i can't find any reviews or good info on which brand to buy.
