Just got my truck back from the stealership getting the head gasket done under the recall. They charged me $255 (CAN) for labour (2.5 hours) because the bolts were rusted and it took them a while to get them off. Should I just be happy I got the gasket done under recall or do you think I should put up a fuss? It would have been about $1500 regular price.

Oh, they also wanted $388 for to replace the water pump and $455 for a new rad. Those I'll do myself!

I would fight it. The HG was messed up and it wasn't your fault. Why should you have to pay ANYTHING!!!

 

I would talk to the service manager i would have not paid that it is a recall they cant charge you for rusted bolts that dont come out easy and if that dont work call toyota direct and complain.

 

I would fight it as well. Beyond the fact they should pay because its under a recall, who takes 2.5 hours for rusty bolts? I'd definately contact the service manager, and if you don't have luck there, get on the horn with Toyota's canada division.
