I've had good experiences from hidpalace.com. Their prices aren't as cheap as the ebay crap kits but they are very good quality "made in Japan" kits. I'm running a 5000K single xenon w/halogen hi beam inside '99 headlight housings I got from rock auto. The halogen hi beam bulb is about as bright as DRLs so it is pretty much useless.

www.theretrofitsource.com. How to do HID the right way.

Ans as others said, choose 4300k or 5000k. Even 600k is a bit too blue, and you lose light. If you are looking for color flicker, that comes from the projector lens and cutoff shields.

Check out the retro I just did on my truck:

ddmtuning, 35w 5000k running in the hella 6054 glass and metal housing. No projector's. just aim them down a little more than normal so as not to blind on coming drivers. I have good projection, lots of light and don't get flashed by anyone...

Let me know how your install goes. I never could get one side to fire on my 96 4Runner for some reason.

elton, as other users has said.... avoid the kits on ebay. They are cheap for a reason.

The ddm tuner kit sounded appealing but i am not finding any reviews on them. I will post here with pics soon as i do the install. Just waiting on a check in the mail

Edit: i forgot to mention. a friend of mine is using the same kit i posted and he loves em. I rode with him in his vehicle one evening and i was pleased to see how well it worked.

I worked with a guy that put the DDM kit on his XRunner, he said it was a plug and play deal. I never did get around to ordering but definitely keep away from ebay stuff, that's where I had a problem.

Just rolling with Silverstar Ultra for now.

Let us know what you kit you get and if you have to modify anything.

The new DDM kits are complete garbage. The one I bought a few years ago was of reasonable quality. The new kits have junk brackets, super ghetto AMP connectors and ballasts with zero markings on them. One of the new ballasts burned out after 3 weeks, while the old ones still work fine. Warranty coverage is non existent. Don't waste your time with them.

Projectors are not a must have unless you have to remove the metal reflector inside the headlight housing. If you do have to remove that reflector you'll be blinding the hell out of people and will get a lot of nasty gestures.

A guy I know put HID in all his front lights on his Trailblazer and didn't use projectors. Worked fine, looked good, wasn't blinding until he put them in his fogs. The fogs didn't have the reflector so the light was beyond blinding and virtually non tolerable to look at.
