heres the deal...i was driving today and I sat at a stop light waiting for the green. it turned green so i pushed the gas...but to my luck, the car just sputtered. It seemed like it was stalling, but the engine did not turn off. So i slowly made my way across the intersection(the light was red by then and ppl were honking at me) and pulled into an entrance(turned out to be some governemnt site, had the police all over me). I went out and look at everything but had no idea what i was lookin for. The police told me i had to move immediately so i did. As i was leaving/sputtering, the car made a fart noise and drove fine again. Does anyone know why it did this?

could be bad gas, fouled plugs, bad sensor. Could be a number of things.
