Spring Cleaning Help?
What do you guys use to shampoo carpet. I have the light gray in my 2003 runner and in spite of the Huskies it still shows every little thing. The pretty weather has got me fired up to clean, clay and wax and I'd like to detail the inside as well. I would like to find something that doesn't smell too bad though, my some cleaned his Taco seats and carpet with some Woolite stuff and the cab still reeks of it months later. I have used Simple Green with great results on oil, etc. but would like to shampoo the whole front carpets. Any suggestions?

go with a good auto interior shampoo concentrate like p&s, mothers (probably best), or meguiars (sp).
then get a hard bristled scrub brush.
fill up a bucket and only put a LITTLE in the bucket (like a large drop)
and DROWN your carpets in the stuff and scrub and get a wet vac and suck up most of the water and leave it to dry for awhile until you need to drive and leave the windows cracked for a day or two.
or you could just steam the interior and use a light mix of whatever to scrub the floors with.
but using any "universal" cleaner like simple green is a bad idea on interior. i work as a detailer so if you have any other ?'s i'd be glad to help

Thanks for all the advice. I only use the Simple Green on spots. I had a van once and they had to pull the engine into the passenger compartment to work on something. They got oil all over my carpet and then tried to clean it off with gasoline. When I went to pick up my vehicle it was a smeared and smelly mess! Someone told me about Simple Green and I just squirted it on brushed it a bit and then wiped it off with clean towels and you would never know the oil was there! I would not clean the whole carpet with it but I have never found anything as good for spots + it's non toxic. I will most likely try the wet vac method as I am leary of the steam. My seats are pristine - it's just the carpet.
Thanks again,
Jim
