Speedometer Cable Replacement

I pulled my cluster out yesterday and the plastic needle that goes into the back of the cluster was snapped off inside I ordered a new speedometer cable from Toyota for 93 dollars and it should be here today. I have just glanced at the cable underneath and in the engine compartment and it does not look easy by any means. Has anyone done this swap? Any tips or tricks? I searched and couldn't find anything on this one. Thanks in advance.

Did you ever fix your cable. Mine just broke and I was trying to decide if I want to do it myself or not. Thanks!

I've done one in an 85 truck once, it wasn't very bad. It was a little annoying running the new cable up, but youll get through it. Never done one on a newer taco, just pay attention to the way that the speedometer cable assembly goes together.

I did replace mine on a 97 Taco. I had my brother help me and with 2 people it wasn't a big deal at all. The hardest part was fishing it into the cab through the firewall. The whole job took maybe 1/2 hour.

The Dealership is the only place that I know of that you can get a speedometer cable.
