anyone have any pictures from the manual that shows how to replace the speedo cable. cant find it in chilton book??? thanks

If you are just replacing the cable and not the housing. You should be able to find the cable underneath the vehicle and unscrew it from there. Unless the cable is broken, you should be able to pull it out and feed the new one back in without taking the top one loose. Grease it first though. It should come loose from under the dash the same way, just probably a little harder to get to, but I am not sure since I haven't changed one lately.

By the way, I was in my dads 1989 Toyota truck and the speedometer cable was jittery. It always has been and it has never broken. He has had the truck for a while.

Mine is not great either. It is very noticeable on cold days. I guess its just a common trait in the trucks/runners. I plan on taking mine out when I have nothing to do and greasing it.

Here in Alberta Canada you want to talk about speedo cable noises. When it gets down to -30 or worse mine is like Cory's. Earplugs till it gets warmed up. After a while you can tell how fast you are going without even looking at it just by listening to the sound.
