Snow between Cab and cap

Need some help. Had the third snowstorm of the season and found for the third time that snow had filled in between my extended cab and my Century topper.

I need a solution to keep snow out of here that doesn't involve adhesives as the cap is being returned. I thought I could pull the cap away from the cab and then squash some pipe insulation above the window. Anyone tackle this problem and come up with a good solution?

Ok this is going back a few years, but my Grandfather always used one. It was an inflatable ring that went between the cab and cap. Think of it as a 3-5" Dia. rectangular inner tube. It was designed so you could open the truck & cap windows with a seal between them. Wonder if they still make them?

Something like half inch.
Yeah, I'm concerned about rubbing.

Yeah, donuts are still being made. I was hoping for a cheap solution. I also haven't heard many good things about them.

Park indoors or move south for the winter.

Nermal, I've got the same situation w/ my topper. It doesn't seem to hurt it any, however when the snow melts, it leaks into my bed.....ahh well. Good luck man.
Ps...WISH for snow!

Elton

Say again?

I'm not worried about the snow sitting there, only that I cannot see through the window. I like having rear visability. If I can find a decent job where snow falls every day, I'm there.

you could do 2 sets of weather stripping. One on each half of the seam that over lap. (ei: 1 piece attached to the cab and 1 piece attacthed to the cap) have the pieces over lap in the center... this will still allow for the 2 pieces to flex and move but the only thing that rubs would be the weather stripping it self. then you could just peel off the stripping on the cap when it goes back... heres the pic in thinking

or maybe something like this;

http://www.lundlook.com/lund_truck_p...al__truck.aspx
its pretty much just weatherstripping but looks pretty thick. there is adhesive tape but im sure it would come off easily.
or how about the window deflectors for trucks. althought they are plastic so that may rub.

My Innovation shell on the '89 had a long piece of weatherstripping that attached to the opening (just snapped over the edge of the 'glass) and kind of flared out and sealed to the back of the cab. Maybe they have something like this at a truck accessories place or where you got the cap...

If it's being returned, why do you need a solution? Remove the cap, return it, all solved.

I had a Brahma that had the rubber seal like that. It rubbed all the paint off the back of the truck cab.

It's being returned to be replaced by another camper shell. If they cannot rectify the problem, then I am going to get an ARE or LEER topper that I am sure will have similar problems.
