Smoked Lights?
Hey yall,
I was just wondering, has anyone here smoked or painted or something like that their headlights, taillights, or any of the other lights. I have heard of this stuff called Night-Shades Paint.
Also, with this stuff it says that it may be illegal in certain states, and does anyone know how to find out if it is legal in maryland? or even how to find it out?
Thank yall

That paint you mentioned works well but it is illeagal to black out your tail lights becaues eliminates your reflectors. My tail lights are illeagal also because the reflectors are clear instead of red but after 10,000 miles of driving in Oregon I have never been pulled over. I think cops dislike the black outs more than clears because they are dimmer than standard lights.

I HATE driving behind tail lights like yours at night!! when you step on the brakes its like some one turned on their brights right in your frickin eyes.
Dont get me wrong they look good on your truck, but they are so damn bright.

I used some spray on lens tint on my tail lights of a integra about 6 years ago. After I had it on for like a year it started to chip. I looked realy good at first. I think if I had preped them better it would have lasted. I didnt know as much as I know now about painting. I didnt ruff it up enough with fine sand paper. I am thinking about just tinting my reverse lights and signal lights on the tail lights. Main thing is to prep it good!

I tinted my tail lights at one point with Testors model tint. It looked extremely nice, and I got it exactly where I wanted because I could add as many light layers as I wanted. Problem was it needed some sort of sealer over it because it flaked off at the car wash. Of course that could also be beneficial in a way because it would allow you to see the final product and undo it if you weren't satisfied. Anyway, it's cheap and you can get it at wal-mart or anywhere models are sold so it's just a thought.

As mentioned, any paint isn't going to last forever. You will have to re-do it every year if you want it to look good. My friend used red transpernent on the backup lenses on his red 4runner and it looked sweet for the first 6 monts but now, a year and a half later, the paint is faded and totally traspenent at the top were the sun hits. There are also covers available which might be a better bet. They would last longer and if you were pulled over you might be able to get out of a tickett my taking them off then and there.
