Arrow Smell gas when I'm accelerating

I've got the ol trusty 3VZE in my 90 pickup. I just did the intake mod for replacing the air intakes lines & baffles with the straight piece of pipe & it runs like a champ, but I smell gas when I first take off from a stop. Anyone know what might cause this? Also, when I idle with a hot engine, it idles fine around 800-900 rpm, but when the engines hot & I start it, it barely stays running at 300-400 rpm. Any ideas? Thanks for the advice. -- FRED! ---

hey fred...i was having the same problem off and on for about 2 months...then one day i pulled my yota out of my driveway and stopped to get something out of the house...when i came back i noticed a nice drip comming from the back of my truck...up above the gas tank there is a section(only about and inch or two long)of hard gas line that is not wrapped with any protective tape(or whatever they use)...so after dropping that(thankfully i had very little gas in the tank) and replacing the rotted out section with a piece of flex pipe...problem solved...

I've checked for leaks many times & all along the fuel system. It doesn't smell like raw gasoline. It almost smells like there's an air or exhaust leak. Could a bad catalytic cause this? Maybe a bad O2 sensor? I also read somewhere on here that the 3VZE's are notorious for running rich.

I smell gas sometimes. Do a quick diagnostic on the truck to see if it throws any codes. I've wondered how to fix the "richness"... hahahaha.

could be a leaking injector o-ring or a loose banjo fitting.
