If this tire thing becomes a major PITA for you, then I would go ahead with the replacement idea. You could always sell your current bump on YT.

Besides, that way you'd be fully protected once you installed your sliders of course.

I think I'll probably take the bumper off, and add a few things that will make it stronger, and at the same time see if a tire carrier is even an option... if not, the tire will probably stay off, until i go wheeling.

I wish steve s would weight in on this, I wanted to get a rockware bumper and e-mailed him since I remember him not feeling very good about carrying the tire on the rear bumper, something to do with cracking or eventually warping the frame. i not really a wrench guy but that was enough to scare me off. however, I wonder if the story is different with the hitch mounted carrier, that thing looks pretty nice.
