Shorty Antenna ?

Shorty Antenna ?
Has anyone installed a fixed shorty antenna instead of their electric antenna?
I was thinking the electric antenna has failures and also that it is not safe to have up if you are offroading or going through a wooded area or a car wash...seems like the fixed shorty antenna is much more simple.

The Tacoma "whip" antenna is a popular mod; I'm pleased with mine. It's not as flexible as those cheap Taiwan jobs with the big spring at the bottom, but it is somewhat flexible. It's easily unscrewed for the carwash, and comes in silver or black.
