Shorty Antenna ?

Has anyone installed a fixed shorty antenna instead of their electric antenna?

I was thinking the electric antenna has failures and also that it is not safe to have up if you are offroading or going through a wooded area or a car wash...seems like the fixed shorty antenna is much more simple.

Any suggestions or pics of what you're using?

I have seen TRD shorty antennas on amazon, but the reviews are terrible. Most complain of poor reception.

The Tacoma "whip" antenna is a popular mod; I'm pleased with mine. It's not as flexible as those cheap Taiwan jobs with the big spring at the bottom, but it is somewhat flexible. It's easily unscrewed for the carwash, and comes in silver or black.

Red face

Why do you need a antenna??

If your really worried about breaking it get one you can unscrew .Unscrew as needed .

The short ones are about useless .

Id like to have a short fixed on, have done it in the past.

Can anyone suggest one other than the TRD antenna? Seems like that one is too short and useless.

Thanks

I used a universal antenna from O'Reilly Auto Parts, part number CK-US07R.

You can read more about it at the end part of this thread here:
