Shocks and struts
1998 tacoma 4x4 x-cab want to replace shocks and struts with Tokico Trek Masters. I have never replaced struts/coilovers before any how to tips or threads on this. Plus any feed back on Tokico Trek Masters would be helpful. Truck is daily driver 90% highway.

There are several threads on this. Search using all the key words (including Tokico) and I am sure you will find a bunch of stuff. I know there are several because I posted on a few myself. There may be a write-up in the tech section too.
I just put a set of Trek Masters on mine not long ago. It was a definite improvement, but it still rides like a truck and perhaps it has more bounce in the rear since the shocks are so new.
The rears are easy-just unbolt and bolt on. Should not be a problem.
Other than my stupidity, I really had no problems with the front either. Spray everything with PB Blaster a couple of times a few days before changing them.
I rented a spring compressor from Autozone. Once you have the shock assembly off, compress the springs until you just can wiggle the shock body. You can then unscrew the center nut and take everything apart. Just realize when you put the new shock in the spring, one stud on the top plate will have to line up near perfectly with the bottom eye of the shock or it won't go back on the truck. Look over the one you take out before disassembly and you will see what I mean. I had to compress each twice because of that. If it wasn't for that it would have been simple.
